April is National Volunteer Month! Thank you to our PAWsitively awesome volunteers, helping turn Second Chances into forever homes for so many dogs!
If you haven't met Herman yet, let us introduce you to this gentle, delightful, and all-around joyful pup! Rescued from the Onslow County shelter in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Herman’s happy face says it all – he truly deserved a second chance. His charming personality wins over everyone he meets, including his foster sibling, the cat (though she may still give him a little swipe, but he's totally okay with that!).
Though Herman is 7+ years old, he's still full of energy, humor, and loves taking walks around the neighborhood. However, he does have a medical condition that we need help with. Herman is battling advanced heartworm disease and will need to undergo treatment with immiticide injections. He's already completed his course of Doxycycline, and his first injection is scheduled for April 10.
The vet estimates the total cost of his treatment, including x-rays and bloodwork, at $935. We’re asking for your support to help cover these costs so Herman can get the care he needs and continue spreading his joy to everyone around him!
Thank you for helping give Herman the second chance he deserves!
